AGBU FOCUS is a world class biennial event that brings together young Armenian professionals from across the globe for a weekend of culture, idea-exchange, nightlife, networking and celebration of a shared Armenian identity.
Since its inception at 2001, AGBU FOCUS has distinguished itself as a unique platform for interpersonal engagement, offering a venue for YPs to meet with likeminded peers and engage in meaningful dialogue through forums like Perspectives and the Conference.
FOCUS also serves as an opportunity to highlight the direct and positive impact of AGBU programs. Each year, the organizing committee selects an important program relating to one of the organization’s core pillars – education, culture, humanitarian relief, and socio-economic development -and launches a year-long global campaign to raise awareness and generate funds to support and enhance the initiative.
This year marks a much-anticipated AGBU FOCUS in South America. With participants travelling to Sao Paulo from destinations as far as Australia, Spain and South Korea – hundreds will have the chance to expand their networks and come away with a greater sense of unity and empowerment as global Armenian citizens.

Celso has been one of the key players in the Manufacturing industry being a Member of the Board of Directors and CIO at Nissan Motor Corporation in Japan for 14 plus years, Global Alliance CIO at Renault-Nissan for 7 plus years; Information Technology leader at Toshiba Semiconductor in the US, and management consulting role at Accenture for 11 plus years. Celso has extensive experience in Supply Chain Management in several industries working for i2 technologies acquired by JDA Software.
Senior Technology Executive with a distinctive track record at board level driving commercial growth and innovation for Nissan and Renault-Nissan Alliance (2004-2017). Proven ability to design and lead transformation programs in IT, supply chain management, product life cycle management, customer relationship management and corporate support functions using advanced digital technologies. Combines the technical ability to evaluate new technology with negotiation skills to develop strategic partnerships that drive value to business and clients. Joined Nissan, following a series of roles in industries that spanned supply chain management, semiconductors, financial services and business and software consulting services. Unique multicultural background with previous positions in Brazil, the U.S., Japan and France. Established an Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley for Nissan, delivering significant results in Big Data, IoT – Internet of Things, Cyber Security and Machine Learning
. Technology Leadership: As Alliance Global VP for the IS/IT organization and Group CIO of Renault and Nissan, led the convergence of Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, HR Functions and IT solutions to achieve more than 4B Euro synergies in 2016.
Most recently has been a member of the Board of Directors at Nissan Motors; has been a NED of Hinduja Tech Limited. Member for several advisory boards for global IT solution companies, high-tech start-up and academic program.
Currently, Celso is extremely active and holds several high impact roles as Non-Executive Board Member at Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Holding Co., Executive member of Nishimoto Trading Co. , Digital Advisory Council member at Coats PLC in UK, President for Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Japan and Cyber Security Policy Program Advisory Committee Member at the Stanford University in the US.
Sal La Duca is an Environmental Consultant, leading Home Environment Safety Movement.
Sal is specialized in the built environment, with over 40 years’ experience in instrumentation and controls. That included operating a shipboard nuclear power plant, and later land-based power transmission and distribution. This also included work on mobile and fixed Radio Frequency equipment, as well as digital office systems.

Emma Arakelyan will be interviewed by Carolina Rossini of Network Readiness Index (NRI) on September 8th, 2020.
Carolina leads Portulans Institute, the publishing house for the Network Readiness Index (NRI). Over the last two decades, the NRI has established itself as one of the most comprehensive assessments of digital readiness, this year covering over 135 developing and developed economies and representing over 95 percent of global GDP. Many economies utilize the NRI to design their digital strategies, connecting Technology with People, Governance, and Impact.
For the 2020 NRI – launch planned for late October 2020 – NRI is working on content (written and multimedia) based on interviews with Ministers, C level executives, and thought leaders. The interview with Mrs. Arakelyan will be one the interviews to enrich the discussion around the following topics:
- Does every organization need to be digitally transformed to stay competitive/survive? Similarly, how COVID has affected the need for digital transformation
- What leadership/culture is needed to ensure digital transformation does not exacerbate the global digital divide?
- What is the role of reskilling, upskilling, lifelong learning in becoming a future-ready firm/government/society? How urgently should firm leaders across industries be reskilling themselves and their staff? How does a crisis – like COVID – impact the need for reskilling?
