Emma Arakelyan will be interviewed by Carolina Rossini of Network Readiness Index (NRI) on September 8th, 2020.
Carolina leads Portulans Institute, the publishing house for the Network Readiness Index (NRI). Over the last two decades, the NRI has established itself as one of the most comprehensive assessments of digital readiness, this year covering over 135 developing and developed economies and representing over 95 percent of global GDP. Many economies utilize the NRI to design their digital strategies, connecting Technology with People, Governance, and Impact.
For the 2020 NRI – launch planned for late October 2020 – NRI is working on content (written and multimedia) based on interviews with Ministers, C level executives, and thought leaders. The interview with Mrs. Arakelyan will be one the interviews to enrich the discussion around the following topics:
- Does every organization need to be digitally transformed to stay competitive/survive? Similarly, how COVID has affected the need for digital transformation
- What leadership/culture is needed to ensure digital transformation does not exacerbate the global digital divide?
- What is the role of reskilling, upskilling, lifelong learning in becoming a future-ready firm/government/society? How urgently should firm leaders across industries be reskilling themselves and their staff? How does a crisis – like COVID – impact the need for reskilling?
- How can we make sure that digital transformation remains human-centric and ethical while also providing firms/governments/economies with a competitive advantage?

Speaker Bio Dr. Armen Kherlopian is a world class data and strategy leader as demonstrated by repeatedly driving new venture growth and ecosystem impact. Moreover, his industry experience is cross-sector including Global Fortune 100 Companies, elite asset managers, startups as well as government organizations such as the FDA and NASA. He is a founding partner at the BAJ Accelerator hosted at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute as well as a Venture Judge in the Columbia University Entrepreneurship Community and a Science Mentor at the Creative Destruction Lab. At Genpact (NYSE: G, 100,000+ Staff) his contributions have included driving transformation in global drug safety to that of analytics insights in Formula E racing, for champion standing across three continents including the Paris, Santiago and New York ePrixs. At Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH, 25,000+ Staff) he was key in developing the advanced analytics book of business and received the firm’s highest accolade, the Booz Allen Innovation Award. As a thought leader, he co-authored the Field Guide to Data Science, the most successful publication in the firm’s 100+ year history, as well as co-founded the Data Science Bowl, which is the largest data challenge for social good. Armen is an awardee of the U.S. National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, U.S. Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship, and is a U.S. delegate to the Lindau Nobel Laureates Meetings. He holds a BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Algorithms from Columbia University, a PhD in Biophysics with a focus on Machine Learning from Cornell University, and completed a fellowship in High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence at Princeton University.
